Bruce’s Story

Bruce Allen’s determination to help his clients attain financial success stems back to his childhood in Oneida, New York. Oneida was home to silver and china manufacturer, Oneida. The company was named for the Oneida Tribe which owns a large territory around the lake in the city.

“As I was growing up, I believed that Oneida had a sense of invulnerability… to some degree arrogance.. about the risk that was emerging out of Asia,” Bruce recalls.

As I recall, offshore competition in stainless steel wiped out Oneida’s core business. The company lost more than $157 million between 2003-2005, was forced to close its manufacturing plants and cut its workforce from 2,500 to 450. Eventually, Oneida was acquired by a private equity firm. I believe that for all of the career employees who expected to retire comfortably, the company stock they owned became virtually worthless.

“Watching Oneida disintegrate in front of my eyes, and watching people’s wealth get destroyed, left an indelible imprint on me,” Allen says. “I need to help people understand their finances, identify their priorities and risks and then educate them so they are where they want to be.. where they need to be in the future.”

Bruce admits two of his strengths that he brings to work daily are his ability to listen and empathize.

“I feel it is my professional responsibility to check myself at the door and make sure that I’m really listening to our clients,” Bruce says. “It’s my responsibility and I’m really humbled to be in a role where I can help create brighter futures.”

Bruce has always enjoyed feeling connected to the community where he lives, be it in Oneida NY as a child, Colorado Springs in college, Boulder as a young professional or currently, as a business leader in Denver. Bruce supports many Colorado non-profit organizations, especially those that assist women and children get past struggles and achieve stability.

Bruce listens to his clients describe their goals and desires for the future.
